Native of New York City.... graduate of Amherst College...combined graduate work with project management and teaching at the University of Massachusetts before moving into public education administration...while on sabbatical at Harvard University, graduate courses at the Business School led to consulting work for Digital Equipment Company...consequently, decided to shift into the private sector as head of human resources for Stone Manufacturing... Stone's strategic direction to focus on soccer led to the purchase of Umbro USA and, subsequently, Umbro International...moved from the Stone corporate staff to Umbro USA as head of marketing ...responsibilities included all marketing functions as well as product line direction, market research, sales meetings and trade shows...became Vice President of Marketing for North America and then Vice President of Global Brand Development... was recruited by adidas to become Head (Vice President) of Global Soccer/Rugby Sports Marketing...moved with his family to Europe...experience includes negotiating, implementing, and managing contracts with FIFA, UEFA, FIFA World Cup 98, FIFA Women's World Cup 99, Pelé, and other international properties as well as managing relationships with advertising, public relations, consulting, events, media, and sports marketing agencies... played soccer for Amherst College and then in adult amateur leagues... coached youth teams in three states...served on the Boards of Directors for the Soccer Industry Council of America, a large youth soccer club, and a non-profit soccer facility development organization... author of a parents' and coaches' guide to youth soccer...lectures on sports marketing to various business forums...promoted concerts (e.g. Kenny G, Wynton Marsalis, Four Tops, Gladys Knight and the Pips) for non-profit organizations.
